For over 20 years now, I have had a deep desire to see the body of Christ become healthy and vibrant. Virtually all of my teaching has been focused on encouraging people to turn and gaze upon God’s face, to understand the reality of God’s nature, and His truth in all areas of life. My heart is to see us radically changed, transformed, metamorphed as Paul puts it in Romans 12:2. And I cannot begin to tell you the blessing it has been to have heard the thousands of stories of how God is doing this in small groups all over the world.
Dr. Del Tackett is the architect and teacher of The Truth Project—a worldwide small group initiative designed to instill a Christian worldview within the body of Christ. Truth Project small groups are currently active in over 130 countries and estimates are that four to five million people have attended the study.
Dr. Tackett recently wrote and co-hosted the television series Cross Examine, presenting biblical worldview teaching through the use of real-life stories.
Dr. Tackett currently teaches biblical studies of social order at the Focus Leadership Institute, a semester program for college students. He served as the President of the Leadership Institute for five years as well as Executive Vice President of Focus on the Family.
Dr. Tackett is one of the founders of New Geneva Theological Seminary and was a professor of numerous worldview courses. He continues to serve on the Board of New Geneva and as an adjunct professor. Dr. Tackett also teaches as an adjunct professor for the Alliance Defense Fund’s Blackstone Fellowship and for Summit Ministries.
Dr. Tackett completed more than 20 years of service in the United States Air Force. During the George H. W. Bush administration, he served at the White House, where he was appointed by President Bush as the director of technical planning for the National Security Council. Dr. Tackett has held positions in various senior engineering, analyst and management capacities at Kaman Sciences Corporation and ITT Industries. As a professor, Dr. Tackett has taught more than 30 undergraduate and graduate courses at numerous institutions on topics ranging from philosophy and worldview to science and management.
Dr. Tackett holds three earned degrees (D.M., Colorado Technical University; M.S., Auburn University; B.S., Kansas State University).
Dr. Tackett is married and has four grown children and resides in the Black Forest of Colorado.
I am on a writing trip in between an extensive travel schedule. This isn’t the shack I’m working in, but it is on my running path in the mornings.
Recent events have made it abundantly clear that the Lord is asking me to go forward with a crazy vision that was sunk inexorably (that really is a great word) into my soul when I was in Washington DC: to do what I could to awaken and prepare the Body of Christ; to see Her healthy and strong; being the light and salt She was made to be; prepared to winsomely engage and, as best we could, restore the culture around us through Truth and Love, all for His glory.
“Greater love has no one than this, that someone lay down his life for his friends.” John 15:13 On September 11, 2001, Islamic terrorists killed over 3,000 people using four hijacked airplanes. Two of those were deliberately crashed into the World Trade Center Towers in New York City. Historically, it was the largest loss of life due to a single foreign attack upon American soil…worse than Pearl Harbor.
Last summer, I had the privilege of taking a float trip down the Grand Canyon. It was one of the great adventures in life that you never forget. Many people go to the Grand Canyon, but to really experience it, you must float the Colorado River for a week and spend the nights on her sand bars and hike her side canyons.
A number of years ago, in another flashbulb life-moment, I took a float trip down the Warm River (it isn’t) in Idaho. It was on that trip that I got the call to Washington and my life changed forever.
