Keeping the Truth Project Vision Alive

The things which you have heard from me in the presence of many witnesses, entrust these to faithful men who will be able to teach others also. 2 Timothy 2:2

Sorry for the absence. I have been in class over the last couple of weeks with some of the greatest college kids in the world…the Summer 2010 class of the Focus Leadership Institute.

Class runs all morning, followed by an “Open Forum” where students bring their lunch back into class and we talk about anything on their hearts (literally “anything”!). Then we fill the rest of the afternoon with one-on-one meetings where we can talk about personal questions, issues and just get to know each other better. Then, some evenings, we head out to the park for dinner and games and more conversation.

Have I ever told you that I love these folks?

I do. And I will miss them greatly when they graduate not long from now.

Our last class together is primarily dedicated to talking about God’s call for us to be involved in the culture around us. That includes their final training to lead a Truth Project small group. We talk about the objectives that have been before us from the day we began:

1. The deep transformation of God’s people as they are exposed to a comprehensive and systematic biblical worldview;

2. The intimate fellowship that provides the necessary seedbed for that transformation as they gather together in small groups and interact in open and honest discussion;

3. The multiplication that comes as some in the group catch the vision and desire to see others transformed by God in their own living rooms. This defies the normal marketing approach and has been called “crazy”, “stupid” and even “unbiblical” [ :) ] by some, but it was our desire from the beginning to make this a “grass roots” effort that would survive and thrive only if God chose to bless it.

And He has.

Big time.

There are small groups in over 80 countries and millions have gone through the study. There is a translation in Arabic, Spanish, French and others underway. This can only invoke within me “Soli Deo Gloria”…for it is truly His kind and gracious Hand that has accomplished so much.

I have been overwhelmed by the testimonies from people who have experienced God working in their hearts and minds and in those in their small groups.

But the most important thing we talk about is the reality of Who it is that is doing this work and that He has called us to ask Him for it. We looked at Mark 9, where Jesus cast out the demon when the disciples could not. When the disciples asked Jesus why they couldn’t do it, He told them that this deliverance and release comes only by prayer.

This is such a profound thing!

Why God has entrusted us with such a critical part in His work is beyond my understanding, but He has. And we must take Him at His word.

For those of you who are involved in the Truth Project, let me thank you deeply and sincerely. You are part of something grand that is happening all over as people are gathering in small groups, becoming close friends and watching something amazing happening within them. If the Truth Project vision is to continue, it will be because you are passing it on to others. But, let me reiterate this one thing to you: the deep transformation that we seek, the setting free of people from the lies of the evil one, the world, and the flesh, must be accompanied by our fervent asking of the only One Who can deliver them.

It comes from Him, not us.

So, we must ask Him.

Finally, it is true the Lord has chosen to bless the Truth Project and it continues to multiply in unbelievable ways. That, however, is only a small part of the Larger Story…a Story in which He has made and crafted you for some unique part.

Get involved.

People are worth it.

I have been studying the Truth project for a several weeks now. As a student of World view studies with the National Institute of Christian Education in Australia I have experienced the Truth project to be exactly what Del described as the aim. Truly ‘transformational’.

From this project will spring teaching and studies in worldview at the high school level which I pray will equip students with the “focussed lense” of Biblical worldview in which they can Engage, Critique and Transform the world around them.
    All glory to the Lord,
Del, well done on being open and honest to answer the call of teaching the Truth upon your life.

The Truth Project has profoundly affected our lives. The Holy Spirit is at work among us. Praise be His Holy Name!

    Del:

Great testamony to the “Truth Project” and your dedication to doing Gods work. My wife and I recently attended a “Truth Project” training seminar in State College, PA and we both enjoyed it immensly. We are currently working on getting a small project going here in the Johnstown-Ebensburg-Altoona area of Pennsylvania and could use some help getting the word out.

We have been holding a Men’s Conference at Saint Francis University each year for nearly a decade and I was thinking that this event could use an infusion of new ideas, new thoughts and a biblical worldview. What would it take for us to get a “Truth Project” training seminar held here at Saint Francis University around November 2010?

I look forward to hearing from you soon so I can make a presentation to our conference leadership committee about our options.

    Sincerely,
    Eric Keim

    Del,
My husband and I went through the Truth Project last year and got hooked FAST! We are taking it to existing small groups in our church and we are now half way through our second group! My husband has gone from sitting in the back of the room in a group to now leading the Truth Project! We have been experiencing the transformation first hand with ourselves and the people we share it with and we are so grateful for your time and effort to put this project together.
    Soli Deo Gloria

I am currently doing The Truth Project at a womens prison. We are on lesson 11 now. The inmates who are attending seem to be the ones that God has called to teach and instruct in that environment. Thank you Del for making this available. One inmate who has been released wants to do a small group study soon.

We took the Truth Project at Church in the City in Denver. I’d like to be able to review the sessions I missed and any written materials. For example, there were diagrams with many bible verses written on them that we just saw in a flash. How do I follow up on my interest and get materials to study.

    Del,

My husband and I did the TTP this year in a small group and I am starting a small group this Wednesday, all women in my neighborhood ( we have been meeting for 4.5 years every week). After, my husband and I went through it together, we watched all the lessons again by ourselves. It is amazing how you pick up on things the second time watching it. So as I lead this group I look forward to deepening my understanding even more. Thank you for your work on this project, glory to God for his work through you. Please pray for our small group, it is my prayer that our group will be truly transformed through prayer and gazing upon the nature of God. Thank you. Kathy

Del, Speaking for myself, my wife, family and friends, the Truth Project penetrated deep into our souls. Combining your work with what I believe to be the beginning of true spiritual revival here in our tiny town in south central Pennsylvania, has created a hunger for God like I have never seen or experienced. Soon our growing church will be hosting the Truth Project for any and all who want to partake and grow in that deeper relationship with God. Several of those who have committed to attend are already speaking of where and to whom they want to take this awesome work and they have not yet seen the complete program. You and your team are to be commended by all Christians and blessed by God. Be assured that this work will be taken to the poor and needy. My view, our view, has changed forever. Thanks. John G.

    Kevin,

I was meaning to be involved in that group at Church in the City, but got busy and couldn’t.

You can find more information through the Truth Project small group site — http://www.MyTruthProject.org

Lots of support materials there, outlines, videos, etc.

Del, my husband and I will be presenting the Truth Project for the fourth time in our home this fall.We have seen so many lives changed because of the truth presented, and made clear from a Biblical view. There are so many lies out there, folks and becoming confussed. Those who attend feel the assurance of God’s word being the absolute truth. When we see it again, my husband and I also learn new and differt things to enhance our walk with the Lord.We are humbled to know the Lord can use us in His plan to present the Truth to others. Because you took the time and effort to do the will of God,in putting this project together, others are blessed. Question – how can we present the new “U-Truth” along with the “Truth Project”? May the Lord richly bless you!
    Elaine
[Elaine, thank you for the kind words and for your efforts with the Truth Project. God has been blessing it all over and He, of course, gets the credit for it! :) You may wish to use True U as a follow up to the Truth Project. It was intended to help prepare high schoolers for college, so if the Lord leads you in that direction, you may want to run a TP group with high school seniors, followed by True U. Hopefully the next three sets of True will be produced and available some day. DT]

    Del,

How did you know what was to come to pass so soon after you finished videoing The Truth Project?

Our first group started small, then flourished; this after only a year or so. Now there are several small groups going and I appreciate starting new ones as I learn more each time I see this marvelous work–so needed!
[None of us knew! We had been praying and asking the Lord to put His hands upon it, but we didn't know if He were going to do that. He has in a huge way! Thank you for catching the vision and opening your home to a small group of people that have, in turn, opened theirs to others. Praying for you guests is so important. Thanks, Betty! DT]

Happy Easter 2011, Dr. Del. I am in a Bible Study this year that is viewing “The Truth Project” DVDs, and the tours present insight into the spiritual warfare we face everyday as Christ followers. Thank you so much for this help.
You may find this an interesting coincidence: unfold “the box” and you will see the shape of the cross! (Happened to notice this when changing TV channels and stopped to watch a few minutes of a math show.) God Bless.

[Thanks, Rachel...May you have a joyous and blessed Resurrection Day! dt]
