The Truth Encounter

I have been working recently on a follow-on to the Truth Project. There was so much material that just didn’t fit into that first set of DVDs and there are many issues that I feel need to be addressed.

I am nominally calling it “The Truth Encounter” and will present portions of the study in Fairhope, Alabama on May 1st.

If any of you want to be guinea pigs and try it out, you can contact Eastern Shore Presbyterian Church, 251-928-0977, for further details. I would love to get your feedback!

Basically, I believe that truth is still the fundamental issue and so the Truth Encounter will seek to take the next step in three key areas:

First, the encounter with truth is personal and transformational. Jesus declared that He was the Truth, so we will begin again with the transforming effect that comes from a personal encounter with Him.

This first area will include a study on the heart and mind—which could prove to be the most critical aspect of the whole series. We have a great misunderstanding of the heart today, especially in the newer generations, and we must recognize its great, great link with truth. We will learn here why you cannot change your attitude by changing your attitude.

This will provide some essential lessons for all of us, especially in how we are raising our children. Just memorizing Bible verses won’t hack it. We must learn how to penetrate the heart.

Secondly, truth is Transcendent. It is absolute, universal, real and pragmatic. Jesus told us there were two gates before us: one narrow and one wide. The first leads to life; the latter leads to destruction. This parallels the compassionate plea of God to the children of Israel when they had entered the Promised Land and He had them assemble on Mount Gerizin and Mount Ebal. There Joshua read to them the blessings that would come from following the truth of God and His design. He then read the curses, the consequences, that would come if they followed another set of truth claims and a different design for life.

We live in a culture that has wandered away from the rock of truth and therefore we have great trouble connecting the dots between actions and consequences. When things go wrong, we don’t know why. This second area will also deal with Christian relativism, mysteries versus contradictions, faith, reason, logic and a host of other “encountering truth” fun stuff!

Thirdly, truth is evangelical. Jesus told us we were light and salt and therefore should have an effect upon the world. This calls us to action; it calls us to engage. How we do so is the primary topic of this last area. We will deal here with what it means to be attractively winsome as we compassionately engage with our neighbors. We will look at the nuts and bolts of interacting with those who are both near to a biblical worldview and those who are far away; how to recognize logical fallacies within our own thinking and how to gently help others see it in themselves; the critical aspect of prayer and humility; and, did I mention this—being attractively winsome!

I really don’t know what will become of all of this, but I am excited to finally be able to press onward and see if the Lord will choose to bless it.

If He doesn’t, of course, it will become nothing but a dry stick on the ground.

Apart from Me”, Jesus said, “you can do nothing”.

Boy, that is surely true!

See you in Alabama!

    shalom..
I have taken you TP study..twice..Couldn’t get enough of it..
I think you have a winner here as well! I am anxious to get in on this study..
I also think that as gentile believers..we have gone far astray from the foundation of the Holy Scriptures (Torah teaching) and my experience has been a much stronger walk in all areas of my life..and boy do I need strength..We have no strength without this first beginnings ..it is the base foundation of the truth! I pray you will be the man who can help to teach this new generation these truths… we are sadly moving further and further away from the foundations of Christian faith due to what in my view has been teaching that has not included proper Holy Scripture Studies..Hebrew language and culture must be to some degree understood..it was after all the language of the Lord as well..it is also very different in meaning and intent..if we have no basic understanding of the language of God to His people..things can get very very lost…we see that now…We also see how hard hearts are becoming towards Israel…That will also be our land as we have been graciously grafted into this family…
Truth is all we have to stand on..Thanking you for seeking it and teaching it so beautifully…

Don’t know if you have seen it, but you might want to check out this book. ‘the Christian Life and Character of the Civil Institutions of the United States’ by Benjamin Morris. American Vision is distributing them.

The Truth Project is great; our church is viewing it and just about done. It has been great for me to hear of someone else who went through the same steps I did about 10 years ago, but I didn’t write mine down and make a series out of it. Going through it now is like deja vu.

Oh how wonderful! My husband and I, with our small group, are working through the Truth Project for the first time, and it has been a wonderful and eye opening experience. It has amazed me personally to see how each tour is lining up with where I am studying in my college classes in some aspect. Very wonderful! I wish that we were closer to Alabama so that we could be there. Hopefully you will have this on DVD at some point, or will visit the Phoenix area (hint, hint) and we will be able to participate! Thank you so much for sharing and teaching how you do!

    in Him,
    Tricia

My mother-in-law and I are going through the Truth Project we are more than half way done, I am amazed at the questions it is bringing out in me. It is one of the most profound things I have been through. Now I am wondering about this new one “The Truth Encounter” I also am wondering if if will be available in the near future on DVD?

Thank you for being you & helping people like me to understand better.

  5. Dona on April 12th, 2010 11:21 am

Thanks, Del, for all the work you are doing and for the training you are giving us. This is my 2nd time through the Truth Project and I’m loving it. I watched the 6th one, History, with my 10 year old. Thank you for helping me to prepare her for the lies and half truths she’ll be getting in school.
What do you mean by being a guinea pig? Are there videos we can use at our church? Or does someone need to go to ESP Church for a class?
Also, regarding your statement “I really don’t know what will become of all of this, but I am excited to finally be able to press onward and see if the Lord will choose to bless it.” Have you ever done the Experiencing God Bible Study? I learned there that we can’t do something for God and expect it to be blessed, we have to listen to what God wants us to do and then do it. Also, the movie “Faith Like Potatoes” was a good portrayal of that. I’m still trying to figure out how to live that way. Also, listen to Phil Vischer’s podcast from Focus on the Family’s Plugged In. It’s number 25. We can’t do something for God and expect Him to bless it, but rather we are to do what God wants us to. As much of a blessing as the Truth Project has been, I hope God has led you to do “The Truth Encounter” and that it’s not something you want to do for God with the hopes of His blessing it because only then will it be successful. (It’s a different way then what mainstream Christians are used to functioning and sometimes I feel like my head is going to explode as I try to wrap my mind around these things. We are all so brainwashed by our culture. =)

  9. Mike on April 12th, 2010 2:39 pm

I can attest to the fact that memorizing Bible verses isn’t enough. Nor is attending church three times a week. My children walked away from church when they entered their late teens. One, the oldest, has now returned, and I continue to pray for the other.

I neglected to do as Scripture teaches. I didn’t talk about Scripture when we walked, when we were sitting, etc. I thought my example and their church training was enough. They were learning spiritual stuff, but it was only in their heads. Turns out the world had their minds a lot more than the church and I.

I failed my children even though I thought all the while I was doing a good job.

Yes, we must penetrate the heart. I pray that this new project will help do that for other parents. In the meantime, I continue to pray.

    God bless you!

  10. Ellen on April 12th, 2010 2:44 pm

This sounds wonderful! I will tell my Truth Project friends about it. Let me know when it is ready for distribution!

  11. Melita on April 12th, 2010 4:46 pm

Sadly, Mike, my husband and I are where you are today….we, too thought our belief and attending church, even having them in Christian school would do the job spiritually for our children…only one of our 6 children is faithful to God now, in their 30’s and 40’s….But what a joy for us and an encouragement!…I am so thankful that God has mercifully given us another chance w/our grandchildren, tho we will never give up on our children…..I saw a friend saved after 50 years of my prayers…it’s beautiful, and convicting…..we are presently holding meetings in our home to teach the Truth Project, and are very interested in this new addition….thank you, Del, so much for being available and faithful….Melita

  12. Jody on April 12th, 2010 5:58 pm

Our church is going through TRUTH PROJECT right now. The logic of the truth leads me to great emotion and passion. Thank you and I’m SO looking forward to what comes next and is mentioned above. If you ever need any help from our church, (right outside of Atlanta) we’d love to help you out. I can’t get enough of this!!!

  13. Johnna on April 12th, 2010 6:40 pm

Del, we at First Baptist Church in Orange Park, FL are so excited about this follow up. Ever since you were here last October, we have had so many people go through the Truth Project and come away on fire for Christ. We are begining to see a serious movement in our church where we are putting our Faith into Action. Our small groups have progressed through two other studies that acted as companion studies to the Truth Project: “How Now Shall We Live” and “The Faith” both by Chuck Colson and both dealing with the issue of Christian worldview. So now we are eager and ready to see the Truth Encounter. How can we obtain it?

Blessings to you and your family.
    Johnna

  14. Robert on April 13th, 2010 12:16 am

For those of you who have children who seem to have left the faith. First, train up a child in the way he should go and when he is old he will not depart from it. Second, I when I was a teenager left the church of my parents and still have some difficulties with some of its teaching. After 16 years doing my own thing I returned due to the influence of a very good Christian friend and have since that time studied to try to get God’s word into my heart so that I may live according to it. It is not an easy task. People there is hope for children who seem to leave many of them return and not all because they are in crisis.

  15. Kathy on April 13th, 2010 6:05 am

    Del,
We are praying for your continued wisdom and discernment as you prepare another rich blessing for so many. We have led TTP twice after being in in our first group. At this time , we are leading a group of senior adults who realize how captive they have been taken and are so anxious to tell others. We hope to start another group this Fall.
Excited is not the word! We so enjoyed our time with you in Orange Park last Oct.
Again, we will be sharing this info about the new project with all three groups that are meeting now and our Sunday morning group as well. We will pray for all of the team.
Thank you for your love for the Lord and His people.

  16. Marcie on April 13th, 2010 8:13 am

Thank you for creating the Truth Project. We are viewing it for the first time. Our two sons, ages 16 and 17 are reaping knowledge from the lessons as well as we, their parents. Our oldest son has not committed his soul and life to God. He believes, but continues to be stubborn. Therefore, we eagerly desire to know how to penetrate his heart and help him in making a committment to his Creator! Please help us!

We would love to be guinea pigs! Teach us!!

Praying for God’s grace and mercy for you as you travel and teach.

  17. Donna on April 13th, 2010 9:37 am

I have enjoyed the Truth Project so much. Just like you, it opens within me hundreds of new avenues to explore with God… and with every adventure, I can’t wait to share the experience and the truth found throughout my journey with Him. So, absolutely, I can’t wait to hear about the additional truths God has shared with you to share with all of us. Bring it on!

  18. Carolyn on April 13th, 2010 11:02 am

When I first heard Del Tackett on a Focus on the Family program several years ago - introducing The Truth Project - I desperately wantd to be able to learn more about it and from it. Our church has now been going through The Truth Project, and it is everything I had anticipated and hoped for - and more!

I find myself passionate about what is being taught - the Truth, finally - and that God has taught me so much of this and is now reinforcing that teaching. I also find myself awestruck that the very things that are being taught are what we are now, right now, facing in our country. I have been having the very discussions with my 14-year old as we drive to/from school and listen to the latest on the political front that are being taught in The Truth Project.

It is also timely because my son is attending a new high school that does not teach the Bible as a literal translation - but myths and stories. Through grade school he attended a school that taught the Bible - and taught it well. So I am thankful that God has given us this opportunity for him to be taught the Truth in contrast to the misconceptions and deceptions he is being taught in school.

And I have felt compelled this last week to write to Del Tackett and thank him and Focus on the Family from the depth of my heart and soul for his vision for, passion for and work on The Truth Project and the gravity, reality and hope that emanates from this teaching.

My prayer is that the Remnant will learn, pray and be raised up to stand for Truth and save our country.

    Many, many thanks!!!!

  19. Kim on April 13th, 2010 1:25 pm

I am really looking forward to this new set from the Truth Project. These issues you mentioned that are discussed is essential to living the way Jesus intended us to live and I would love to learn more and develop a greater understanding of how to do it. Thanks for the Truth project…

    Del,
I have just finished with the tour “Truth Project”. What an incredible amount of food for thought! I can’t say which tour was the most beneficial to me, and they were all so very well done. I thought I was well informed, and aware of what went on “out there”…but there is always more to learn, and more to apply to my own personal life! Great to hear you are working on a follow up!
Over the summer I will go through the entire 12 tours again, to learn even more, and then in September or October I hope to lead a group here in my home. there are already people asking about this study. To be able to recognize the pitfalls of our culture, and then to be able to stand all the more firm for God’s glory - this is what I desire with all my heart, and it is so encouraging to watch and learn from these tours, and then to share them in turn with others.
May God give an increase in strong faith and discernment, using your work!

We’ll be GP’s! Just finished The Truth Project and can’t wait for more! Will be teaching a small group in our home in the near future; praying God leads us to His picks! Thank you Del and Focus on the Family!

Dr. Del - My home study group is on week 8 of the Truth Project, and my husband and I have so enjoyed your teaching on God’s Truth and how it impacts our worldview. It has been enlightening and absolutely wonderful. We are thrilled to hear you are going to continue this with a followup study. Any idea when this might be available for the general public? SIGN US UP!

    Blessings,

  25. Jim on April 13th, 2010 4:48 pm

The TP is the best study I have ever done. I took it once and taught it twice. I can not wait for the Truth Encounter. I agree with you about the heart. I once preached a sermon called the importance of the heart. The word “heart” is mentioned in the Bible more than the word “love”, God said he would give Solomon a wise and discerning heart, and Solomon said “Above all else, guard your heart, for it is the wellspring of life.”(Proverbs 4:23)

  26. Karen on April 13th, 2010 5:27 pm

We’ve hosted the Truth Project twice and other groups have started through it-Multiplication! Looking forward to the new material!
    God Bless You! truly!

  27. Lester on April 13th, 2010 6:32 pm

Praise God for you Del, Please keep listening to God. He is blessing you with valuable Truth to share with His people. I have gone through the Truth Project twice and hosted it once, each time God took me deeper into His word and drew me closer to Him. You can count me in on your next project. To Him be all the glory.

  28. Michelle on April 13th, 2010 6:40 pm

Very excited about this new endeavor. My husband and I both learned so much from the Truth Project. I truly believe Del is one of the most relevant speakers of our time. Thank you for sharing your insight with us.

  29. Cindy on April 13th, 2010 6:43 pm

My husband & I are on our 5th time through - once as students and 4 times as hosts…I see this follow-up and I’m wondering if there’s any further discussion of something for UNBELIEVERS. We have had a number of inquiries about bringing unbelievers to our groups, but told them they weren’t really suited for unbelievers, as we were told in a TP training session here in Phoenix, AZ.

  30. Josh on April 13th, 2010 6:45 pm

    Del,
May God continue to lead you in His way to bring His Truth into current vernacular. To say the Truth Project changed my discernment (with myself and others) and increased my thirst/hunger for His Truth would be an understatement.
P.S. Wish I had more time to ‘cocoon’.

  31. Rick on April 13th, 2010 7:42 pm

Del, this is very exciting. TTP really helped crystalize my thinking in a lot of areas. It provided a logical, systematic framework to put various facts, truths and thought processes into that can continually be built upon. Hopefully the Lord will bless this effort and we’ll all be able to continue in our growth and change of heart through it. Thank you Del. Your insite and love for the Lord is a blessing to many.

  32. Mike on April 13th, 2010 8:01 pm

We are in week nine of the Truth Project, a small home study group. We all look forward eagerly to each weeks study. This has been the most meaningful study I have ever undertaken. Thank you Del and thank you LORD for blessing us like you have.

Can’t wait to see the new project unfold.

  33. Lyn on April 13th, 2010 8:07 pm

This is an exciting new development and I look forward to being able to see/hear it. My church did the Truth Project in SS this past fall, and the young couples small group used my set of DVD’s as well. I’ve seen it about 4 times myself and think it is a wonderful tool to provoke some thought and hopefully, changes in thinking. I will be keeping watch for The Truth Encounter. Since I’m in Canada, Alabama is a bit out the way but surely there will be DVD’s soon. God bless you and the new project.

  34. Gayle on April 13th, 2010 8:08 pm

This is great news. I’ve been able to tell from the videos that we didn’t get all of the footage. I would love to see more. We are halfway through leading our second Truth Project and went through it initially so it’s our third time and we’re still learning. Will be looking forward to it.

  35. Susan on April 13th, 2010 8:11 pm

I am really looking forward to the new series.
    Thank you.

  36. Gerard on April 13th, 2010 8:12 pm

Had no idea what to expect from the truth project when I was first was asked to be part of the group. I am looking forward to leading a group after watching just the first lesson. Awesome!

  37. Kathy on April 13th, 2010 8:16 pm

My husband and I have been through The Truth Project and are now leading it in our home to friends and neighbors. Our plan is to lead it this summer at the Christian camp where we volunteer. We’re also thinking about possibly offering it again in the fall to friends from church who live out in the country near us. We look forward to your new project. We desperately need all the Biblical worldview training we can get, especially as the days grow darker.
Thank you, Del, for all your hard work and vision. We truly appreciate it.

  38. Ardie on April 13th, 2010 8:25 pm

We have completed the Truth Project with two different groups in our home. What a blessing.
Several of them are now leading groups. We’ll look forward to the new material.
    Blessings,

This is excellent news. If I can get to Alabama on May 1st, I will be there. Where there is His will, there is a way!

    1. Unity of the Faith built up and expressed by the Proclamation of the Word
    2. Unity of the Church built up and expressed by the Worship of God in Spirit and Truth
    3. Unity of the Home built up and expressed by the Instruction of Parents in the fear of the Lord

I think maybe my three have some relation to yours.

  40. Harvey on April 13th, 2010 8:58 pm

Del, This is good news! TTP has helped me considerably and I look forward to learning from this additional material. I recently read Ravi Zacharia’s newsletter and noted the following statement about the purpose of his ministry: “Helping thinkers believe and believers think.” The same can be said of the Truth Project.

Both you and Ravi have challenged me to think as I follow Christ, the embodiment of Truth. Keep up the good fight of faith. We appreciate your gifted insight into the fundamental truths of Christianity.

  41. Dave on April 13th, 2010 9:00 pm

Once the intellectual arguments against believing in Christ are shattered we do need to be ready with the next step - a personal relationship with the living God. And after that - spreading the Truth to others. I’ve been waiting for the follow up to TTP. thank you!

  42. Chris on April 13th, 2010 9:35 pm

You go Del! As Christians we are called to be holy because God is holy. We have got to quit using grace as an excuse to act like the world. We need to live a principled life base on the truth of his word and not the lies of the world.

  43. Carly on April 13th, 2010 9:49 pm

Thank you for the TP. It was such a rewarding experience and I’m better informed about facts and bibical truths. I wish all Christians would take the time to view it! I’ve seen it several times with my church and my friends. I look forward to TTE with great joy and excitement!

I regret that distance keeps me from being a guinea pig in Alabama. God be with you as you take the next step. Thanks for your obedience to Him!

  44. KENNETH on April 13th, 2010 10:15 pm

We are very pleased to find out that you are working on the followup….we feel lost now that we have completed the Truth Project, for the 2nd time, first as participants and then as leader.
We look forward with anticipation to the future and great things from your new endevors!!
Thanks again and praise God for you and your crew!!

  45. Shannon on April 14th, 2010 5:03 am

Thank you for continuing to present the Truth to our world. God bless you for your efforts. I hope that He will show you how many lives you have helped Him to transform through your work for Him.

  46. Rusty on April 14th, 2010 6:59 am

Good morning Del, from the Great White North!
I think you are discovering or moving on what some of us have been discovering along with you. I have been interested in the idea that when Jesus says “I will pour out my Spirit on all mankind…” perhaps He is talking about pouring out the Truth on all mankind. This would suggest, contrary to our original Truth Project training, that the Truth Project is for Christians and non-believers. I believe the new evangelism is the oldest evangelism in the world… discipleship. And for a disciple to disciple they need to know and hold the Truth. Under God’s direction, you have taken us to the threshold of this truth journey. We have been encouraging christians all along to invite their street in for the Truth Project… take it to their work place, and to their family. Thanks for your dedication to discipling in Truth.

  47. Mike on April 14th, 2010 8:28 am

We are using the Truth Project as a bible study for our office every Monday morning. It has made life changing differences for all of us as we better understand the real truths about our creator and the cosmic battles we face on a daily basis. The Truth Project is so thought provoking that it has made Romans 12:2 come alive for us as we are “being transformed by renewing our minds” every week with this study. I can’t thank you enough and am excited to know that there could be a follow up available soon. May God continue to bless Focus on the Family and your work in spreading the Truth Project across America. I’m extremely concerned with the United States and where we appear to be headed. We need The Truth Project taught in all of our schools so we can get back to the foundation that built this great nation. A country that really believes “In God We Trust!”

  48. Marilyn on April 14th, 2010 8:32 am

Thank you, Dr. Tackett, your teaching has been such a blessing to me.

  49. bob h. on April 14th, 2010 8:36 am

Oh man, I really want to get a copy of this material. Again, you hit on three topics that have been on my mind for years, and I thought I was alone in thinking this way, presuming I was some kind of heretic in the recesses of my mind.

It never ceases to amaze me when liberal theologians quote the bible and know all the doctrines and reject the clarity of truth for salvation and give license to sinful behaviors. For years I didn’t really understand the King James use of licentiousness, but it sure makes sense now. Ever learning, and never able to come to the truth.

Please find a way to distribute this material as soon as possible. What a great foundation for our children, to simply learn how to think intelligently. Whew, the church needs this badly.

  50. Samuel on April 14th, 2010 9:17 am

Dell, my wife and I have had the pleasure of taking people through TTP 8 times now. I would encourage anyone reading this to not stop at 1 or 2. I share that I know it is of God because everytime I see it, I learn or see something new, the same as when I read the Word. We are two people who have truly gone through a transformation. I am part of an organization called Jew for Jesus and we believe in the methodology that Rabbi Paul adopted early on. And that is that if you give the gospel to the Jewish folks, a whole lot of Gentiles (God-Fearers) are listening in too. TTP has been a tremendous help in sharing the good news of Jesus with our Jewish people - and Gentile folks. It has helped teaach us how to follow the triune nature of God by simply asking three questions. Question 1 - Is there a God of creation (Y/N), simply the only two choices we have. Question 2 - Was Jesus the promised Messiah (Y/N). Once again the only two choices. Becuase if he was, then that would mean he is the Messiah for all mankind. This takes it out of a Jewish vs. Gentile argument. Both of these questions are clinical / head knowledge but are foundational. Question 3 -Will I choose to follow is the critical heart quesiton. As you pointed out, even Satain knows the answer to the first two, and has also chosen poorly as it relates to the third. TTP, along of course with the study of God’s word, has helped in our mission statement of JfJ and that is “We exist to make the Messiahship of Jesus and unavoidable issue to our Jewish people worldwide.” On a personal note, by establishing a ‘Biblical Worldview”, we have been able to share with both secular folks and believers that it is our belief that God does not care in any way what my opionion is on critical questions such as abortion, same sex marriage, etc. We are convicted that what he cares about is whether we “honor” His opinion. God bless to all at Focus and we may see you in Alabama.
    Shalom in Messiah

I would love to be a guinea pig for the new material–any chance we can view a podcast or buy a DVD if we’re unable to get to Alabama? Feedback from the many people who went through the Truth Project tells us people want more, and until we get to our hearts, even the Truth won’t change our lives. But praise God, we had a guy (not a believer) come to TTP at his wife’s insistence, stood up the first night and said, “Now I know why my wife wants me to be here. This has rocked my world. I don’t know what I believe, but I know I’m a captive.” He faithfully attended, started reading the Bible, and we trust he is now a believer (very involved in serving and wants to connect with youth, and use True-U!) Join us in praying for all those who ended up in a Truth Project group even if they weren’t believers. And, thank you, you will probably never know the full impact that the Truth Project is having in lives everywhere! Praise God!

    Dr. Tackett,
I am excited to hear about the new Truth Encounter
series that you will be working on. I was talking with my kids this morning on our way to school about the importance of knowing the truth and that the Truth is really a Person: Jesus. They listened attentively and made some interesting comments about how flawed the theory of evolution really is. I am so thankful that the Lord is raising servants and stewards to confront the deceptive teachings that are permeating our culture; and even more, for His Spirit, who leads us into all Truth. I pray for the continued annointing of the Holy Spirit over your life as you seek to speak boldy about the Truth.

God bless you and your family!
    Lizzy

  53. Len on April 14th, 2010 1:41 pm

    Dr. Tackett,
This is exciting news. I’ve lead 5 TP studies, and will continue to do more… but so many of my previous participants, have been hungering for more Truth Project material… So I am certain the Holy Spirit will truly bless this endeavor! Your passion for His Truth is obvious in your teachings and is contagious… As you pointed out, our culture has wandered away from the rock of truth and so many believers have great difficulty connecting the dots between their actions and the consequences. As salt and light it is our responsibility to help others to get through that narrow gate… your new study tool will provide that impetuous!

For those of us who don’t live in the Fairhope, Alabama area, is there any way we can get a preview… maybe just a Youtube video clip of what’s to come?

May the Good Lord continue to richly bless you, your family, and your ministry!

    Len

    Hi Dr.Tackett,
I am the small group coordinator for our church. So far we have completed two Truth Projects and are in the middle of two more. I have been hoping you would take a next step. The weakness I see in the body of believers is the inability to be articulate in their defense of God’s Gospel. I have begun to focus some studies around apologetics in the mens study group and some of our Sunday school and LIfe Group classes. I look forward to what you are doing to be made available. Thank you for your passion for Christ.

  55. Katrina on April 14th, 2010 2:34 pm

My husband and I have been through the Truth Project twice — once as participants and once as leaders. We so appreciate the content of the Truth Project and look forward to hearing what more God would have you teach and challenge the church with. Thank-you for mind and heart set on knowing and pleasing God. We appreciate what God is doing through you at this time.

  56. mike on April 14th, 2010 4:02 pm

Dr Tackett, my son and I were in the TP at Trinity University in SA,Tx and we have been awaiting part two to share with others as God leads. We would count it a privilege to partake on the Mayday inaugural of Truth Encounter.May God richly bless your service to the body.

  57. Lisa on April 14th, 2010 4:42 pm

    Dr. Tackett,
Have only been through the TP twice but hope to lead another group soon. Pray God’s blessing on this new endeavor. Hope it comes out in DVD soon for those of us who live too far to participate in the Alabama sessions. God Bless you.

  58. Steve on April 14th, 2010 5:36 pm

    Dr. Del,

With great anticipation, I await to become a guinea pig. Imagine me, a Jew, wanting something to do with a pig! I must be a Kosher guinea pig, though. :-) I have thoroughly enjoyed TTP several times, having been taught, and now leading it with others. It is nice to see the light bulbs go on in a teenagers mind, and see the looks on their faces, when they discover that they have been lied to, and on purpose. Then the righteous anger sits in, and we discuss how to use that anger in a positive way.

    Oy!

Keep up the fantastic work. To His name be the glory alone.

  59. Bethany on April 14th, 2010 6:44 pm

    Dr. Tackett,
I am a student at Auburn University and did the Truth Project while working at a camp in North Carolina last summer. I learned so much and was truly blessed by the experience. I am excited to see what God does with The Truth Encounter!! Thank you for your ministry!!

  60. Buz S. on April 14th, 2010 7:11 pm

    Dr. Tackett,
I too would love to have more information on the Truth Encounter. Just this past Sunday we were talking about how our church family needs to make disciples. Sounds like God is involved!
I have been so excited to get as many people to be a part of a TP group. We are in the process of going through my second time as a TP leader and we have members of this group who are ready to multiply. I myself can not get enough of it
God is most definitly blessing the Truth Project.
Thanks for this, and may God Bless you and yours.

  61. Kirk on April 14th, 2010 10:16 pm

My wife Deb and I have been leading TP groups for 4 years now. First off we have been completely transformed. We have taken hold of the fact that our lives are not our own. Our lay minisrty now includes over 50 adults that we teach, lead, and minister to and with. The Truth project has been the cornerstone of transfomation in the lives of many of our friends and our ministry. We desparately want to be involved in the Truth Encounter but we live on the west coast. God bless you Dr. Tackett. Please let us know when this is out for distribution or available nearer to the west.

  62. Cliff on April 14th, 2010 10:22 pm

I have led the Truth Project 15 times at 3 different churches. I am looking forward to your Truth Encounter. Thank you and God bless you.

I am so looking forward to seeing The Truth Encounter. I went through the Truth Project and absolutely loved it…I’m hoping my church runs it again.. I want to see it again… Thank you Dr. Tackett for opening my eyes and getting closer to Jesus. God Bless You!!!

  64. Kristy on April 15th, 2010 12:28 pm

Dear Del: Thanks, our church keeps presenting TTP
on Wed. nights and never lacks for big turnout.

Your statement about “memorizing scripture isn’t
enough, it’s about getting into the heart…” I may
be a bit premature, but my soul doesn’t think so.
My 10yo grandson memorizes beautifully, like most
children, BUT this world of amazing things that
call to a busy boys’ mind is staggering. I’m
grateful Paul gave us 2Corin 10 and the
admonishin to take captive every thought.
I will look forward to seeing the Truth Encounter

We have gone through the Truth Project in our church and again in our small group study. We are discussing what we might do this fall and it would be wonderful if the Truth Encounter were on DVD and available in time for our fall session. Will be watching and waiting. Blessings

  66. Steve on April 15th, 2010 11:22 pm

    Hi Del,
This blog hit a home run with us. We believe that, as Jesus demonstrated in the Garden of Gethsemane, our mind, emotions, and will must all be engaged in a balanced way as we make our way through life. Too many of us rely on one of these or another and not all three. We believe that we must give all our heart to God so that He can love through us - to where we really can love both God and man with “all our heart.” We counsel people to do this by helping them find strongholds in their hearts caused by sin done to them and by them - the strongholds where the enemy has power in our lives. We teach them how to let Christ remove those strongholds and how to give those areas back to Him. By becoming free of these strongholds and giving these areas of our heart back to God, we can indeed love God with all our heart.

  67. Don on April 16th, 2010 5:27 am

We are passing throught the adventure of the truth project for the first time. Having been a beleiver for 38 years I thought I had a handle on the Christian walk. My heart has been humbled to find that I have just begun to look into the heart of God. THe men in the group have seen what it means to fall inlove all over again with the Creator of all there is. My passion is and always will be truth. For if we know no truth we have no basis for its convistions and conversions to our lives. We then have no relivance in our local community. I am looking forward to the add to the project. Humbly Don, Black Mountain NC

  68. Teresa on April 16th, 2010 6:49 am

The Truth Project facinated and enlightened me and left me feeling restless. I was overwhelmed with all of the information and biblical references. I don’t know what to do with all of that truth! Where do I go from here?! Your description of the Truth Encounter follow-up series indicates that it just may be the solution that TP participants need to help us to confidently go out and apply these truths while we intereact effectively within our circles of influence… and beyond.

  69. Dan H. on April 16th, 2010 7:06 am

    Dearest Dr. Del,

As a former Truth Project leader and a current TrueU guide I’d like to thank you for all of your fine, fine, work. God has surely given guidance and blessings to you and your team. I’m sure that the Truth Encounter will be just as glorifying to God as the Truth Project was, and continues to be. After the first TP program was completed at my church, our leadership (Deacons) have continued to do monthly TP meetings and the high school kids are enjoying and benefiting from the TrueU program immensely!

Within the last year or two, you mentioned on your blog the possibility of creating a program that could be presented to unbelievers regarding the truth of scripture. If I was not mistaken about this idea, can you affirm your plans for this area of evangelism and what the timing might be?

    Yours, In Christ…

    Dan…

I’ll see you in Alabama. When do you think The Truth Encounter will be ready to distribute?

  71. Grace on April 17th, 2010 9:24 am

My first thought when I heard about Truth Encounter is how many people ignore what is best for their heart. The number who have multiple sexual encounters and other sins without realizing how they are destroying their conscience and their heart. It becomes difficult to talk to them because they don’t see what’s wrong. I would love to see some guidance on how to lead them to the Truth. I enjoyed theTruth Project very much. Grace

  72. Mark on April 18th, 2010 1:37 pm

    Dear Del:

I am just back from this weekend’s retreat and pray for safety for you and Dale in your return home to Colorado. I just wanted to express my thanks for your generosity of both time and wisdom which you showed to all the men this weekend. It was especially encouraging to me, personally, and it was a time that reminds me of the call to action that all “Mighty Men” are called to. May God grant me the strength, wisdom and humility needed to be a tool in His mighty hand. It was a pleasure to have shared the hardships of Chip’s “Olympics” with you and I pray you heal quickly. Thanks so much for entrusting us with a “first look” at The Truth Encounter. I look forward to its completion and pray that God will cause our paths to cross again in the future. Till then, may He richly bless you and your family and help us to be messengers of the Truth is a winsome and pleasing way.

Mr. Tackett, I first saw TTP in a womens small group study. I couldn’t believe how it was God’s timing for me and how after the 3rd tour, I knew my husband would want to see it too. It took almost a year for that to happen at our church in a small group, but it did. He loved it and saw my passion grow to want to do it again, and again. Now after leading it together with my husband 5 times and seeing God’s Transformation in our groups and now, new friends, with a new sence of direction as well; we now are going on the road to MN for the summer in our RV; where our kids live and share with others there, about TTP and it’s life changing effects, and how to be a better light for Christ. We are passionately excited about what God has in store for us and can’t thank you enough for your passion, humor and desire to develop another study through The Truth Encounter. How awesome that will be. WOW! Giving all the Glory to HIM, always, In His Truth, Danny & Mary Lou

    Hi, Dr. Tackett,
I was one of your students last fall at FLI and I’m SO EXCITED about this new study. The Truth Project was transformational for me. I’m working in the missions/outreach department at a church now. We’ll be watching for The Truth Encounter when it comes out. :)
I saw this article this morning and it reminded me of some of our class discussions at FLI. Thought you might find it interesting. The title is “Five Myths About Emerging Adult Faith” and here is the link: http://www.christianitytoday.com/le/currenttrendscolumns/culturewatch/fivemyths.html

Thank you for opening yourself and your life up to God’s work. He’s truly blessed and changed me through your efforts at FLI and in the Truth Project. Praying for you!

    Dr. Tackett,

I am so excited to see you are coming to our area and our church to share some of your thoughts concerning the “next” step in the journey, The Truth Encounter. I will be attending all of your sessions with great interest. God is using you in a wonderful way.

I am so excited to learn of a follow up of the “Truth Project.” I took the Truth Project at my church here in VA. I was completely amazed at the quality of the content and the strength of the agruments. I feel that I have a much stronger foundation of my faith and I am so excited about sharing this with others. Thanks for keeping up the Good Fight! This time in our history tolerance is the mantra we hear over and over but the people who preach tolerance are about the most intolerant I’ve met. Thanks again for helping me firm up my commitment to Christ. Patricia

We are at lesson 7 this week as we present The Truth Project to a small group at our church. The response from our small group members is truly glorifying to God!
I’m personally excited to hear that you’re working on a follow on project. Serving as facilitator has helped me understand how much can’t be covered even though the series creates a deep yearning in folks to know more and to be more fully transformed.
    God bless you Dr. Tackett!

  79. Mia on April 22nd, 2010 7:00 am

Thank you so much Dr. Tackett. You are a truly gifted speaker. I have watched the Truth Project twice, the second time as a facilitator. I am excited about and looking forward to the Truth Encounter.

Our Church just finished The Truth Project. I found it very informative, but was not as “amazed” as some of the people who attended. I think it is because our child attended a Christian School until high school when we began home schooling him. He was amazed that not everyone knew the truth of America’s founding!

    Dr. Tackett,
We are delighted to hear of a coming sequel to The Truth Project. We went for the training in Nashville last summer and have gone through the series seven times since then, here in our home. So many people want to see it we’ve scheduled several nights a weeks. Our pastor recently finished going through it and has given permission to show it in our church in the fall. We will be starting another home group in June. It’s a huge hit and is changing lives. :) We just can’t get enough of it.
Thank you for all you are doing to help us understand the worldviews.

    Del,

It was my great pleasure to be present at the Truth Encounter in Fairhope. My wife and I had previously been through the Truth Project, and were deeply encouraged by it. Our 2 college aged children missed the majority due to class scheduling, but with the DVD set we’ll be going on the journey again as a family first, then sharing with others.
Thank you for submitting your life to His purpose, and placing the lampstand on high. Our prayers are with you.

  87. andy brown on May 4th, 2010 9:07 am

    Dr. Tackert,
a few of us from the Truth Project Home Group in Mississippi attended your conference in Alabama this past weekend. Needless to say, this material is truely an extention of the main topic TRUTH! Especially loved the frist module, Personal Truth, felt is was very well presented and opened new perspectives into mans way of processing many of the turth claims that come upon us. The modules that followed were not quite as clear. Understaning the element of time, felt you did as well as possible considering this limitation. That said, will there to be materials available in the future that will expand upon our undrestanding of the Transendant and Evangelical sections?
Thank you so very much for pulling all this together and presenting difficult materials in an enjoyable mannor. May God continue to bless your efforts, as we each advance in discovering and fulfilling His purpose for our lives.

    Truth Encounter DVD….is awaited eagerly!

  89. sharon on May 23rd, 2010 4:17 pm

    Dear Dr. Tackett:
I am very excited about your new venture and look forward to bringing it to our church. I have presented the TRUTH PROJECT series of classes for the past three years and we will repeat the series again this year for “newcomer” and “repeating” participants. We offered the same class three times during the week so participants would have a choice of times when there’s an unexpected conflict.
I would like to present the new TRUTH ENCOUNTER series during the morning Sunday School hour and still have time for discussions after the DVD. THEREFORE, I am suggesting that the DVD series be kept to a maximum of 30 minutes—(IF AT ALL POSSIBLE)—in hopes that we could complete each presentation with a discussion within an hour —or maybe 1 hour & 15 minutes.
Thank you for listening for the Spirit’s leading to bring such excellent teachings to the Body of Christ. We have been blessed through your ministry.
    Carry on, Fellow Traveler!

I am so excited to see that there is more to learn. My husband and I have led three groups through the truth project and each time we finish we say-”there has to be more”. This message came at a great time for me as I have just encountered Christian opposition to the absolute truth as God’s truth. Thanks for being the blessing I needed.

  91. Cindy on June 13th, 2010 6:16 pm

Dr Tackett-I have just completed the Truth Project and have found it to be just what I needed in my spiritual walk with the Lord. I am so thrilled to hear there will be more. Rest assured that you are changing lives with your work. I can’t wait for more!!

  92. Gloria on June 28th, 2010 6:30 pm

I cannot tell you how life changing my first time through The Truth Project was. I was so horrified to get to the end when I wanted it to keep going. I am so thrilled to know that you are preparing another study for all of us. I spent so much time raving about TTP that a friend asked me to facilitate one. This wonderful group of ladies will be doing Tour 11 on Thursday. I am also participating in a new TTP starting tomorrow. You see this is a first time for each of us to facilitate any studies. She attended mine and I’m attending hers. There is so much in The Truth Project that even three times is exciting and full of things to learn. Thank you for this wonderful study. I can’t wait for the new one.

  93. Bjorg on September 2nd, 2010 10:26 am

Thank you for the Truth Project. It is a work of excellance. I am about to facilitate my third class. It has been life changeing. I want to share this with everyone I know.
With every group I’ve done, the reaction has been the same. And that is that they have seen the face of God in everything that He has created. That His plan is a perfect plan for every area of our lives. May God richly bless you as you continue your work for Him.

[Borg, these are encouraging words spoken at a Providential moment. Thank you! The transformational work that you see in your guests comes only from the Lord. All glory goes to Him. dt]
