“This is the day that the Lord has made, let us rejoice and be glad in it.” Psalm 118: 24
Did you go to bed blue? Did you go to bed sad?
That was yesterday.
This is today.
There is something grand about a new day. There is something refreshing in the first rays of the sun early in the morning. Maybe its because I am an “early bird”. I know some people who shudder at getting up to watch a sunrise.
For me, the dawning of a new day seems to erase much of yesterday’s fog.
I think Jesus was trying to get us to limit the reach of one day. He told us not to worry about tomorrow.

Don’t let tomorrow weasel its way unnecessarily into your today.
And I think Psalm 118 is telling us to not let yesterday unnecessarily reach beyond its limit either.
Sometimes our yesterdays can ruin our todays and our tomorrows.
There is much in the Scripture that would enjoin us to let go of the past. Paul talked about “forgetting what lies behind” and in Isaiah 43, the Lord says to “Forget the former things; do not dwell on the past. See, I am doing a new thing!”
Certainly, we are never to forget the Lord or His truth or His mighty deeds in our lives. In fact, God repeatedly tells us to remember them.

But the failures of the past, the heartaches, the disappointments…much of these are to be left behind and not dragged into today.
The fact that a weed grew up in your garden yesterday shouldn’t destroy your delight in the rose that blooms there today.
Because of the LORD’s great love we are not consumed,
for his compassions never fail.
They are new every morning;
great is your faithfulness. Lamentations 3:22-23
The newness of the morning fresh air, the sunrise and a couple of bucks having breakfast reminded me of that today.

today is my birthday. I too took an early walk this morning and even before I got out of bed, I thanked God for making me and letting me be born. I did notice how spectacular the sunrise was and wanted a picture of it. Then a friend directed me to Del’s Blog. There it was, for me to remember! Thank you God! Thank you Del!
The “If Only’s” of yesterday and “What If’s” of tomorrow will surely rob today of its joy…Live with the substance of God’s daily bread!!

I am on the “lesson 2″ of “the Truth Project”. Though I can not understand all now (I am Chinese), I feel the dawning of the “belief” of me is coming. When I was learning philosophy, I liked it because it answers some big questions. I was moved by the “miracles” of human: the new technology, the new science discovering, the new philosophy and the new thoughts or ideas. Yes, I am still in the box, I feel it is not easy to feel the God out of the box. I hope the move of God on me. Thank God! Amen!
This past Monday was also my birthday and one year ago I became a Christian. Thank you Del for reminding me to pluck the weeds in my garden and forget about what lies behind (my old self) and delight in the rose that blooms today (my new self).
There is something grand about every day. Yesterday was a wonderful day. Today is a wonderful day. Tomorrow will be a wonderful day. Sometimes we are able to see it, sometimes we’re not. I use to enjoy every little thing in my life and I try to see the shadow just as an effect of the light. Thank you, Del, for reminding me all of these.
It sounds like Jesus was telling us to live in the present moment, which is all there really is; our God-given Life can be lived only in the present moment.When the regrets of yestersay and the what ifs of the future are put aside, in the present moment we can feel the peace which passes all understanding.
THanks Del for making my day! i am only 13 and have done the truth project twice, every time i am amazed at our glorius God! in the morning i look out the window and thank God for making this day and this morning i didnt feel like thanking God i thought morning came to soon but you post kinda refreshed me.
