I arrived home from Costa Rica late Sunday and early Monday morning appeared (partially coherent) in the classroom with the Summer 09 Institute class.
We begin each day with a devotional time, class runs all morning, followed by an “open forum” over lunch, where any and all questions are fair game. The rest of the afternoon is filled with individual 1:1 time in my office.
Monday we talked about Truth and God’s Design for Social Order;
Tuesday we dealt with the Trinity, the Family and the Church;
Wednesday and Thursday were dedicated to understanding God’s design for the state and the American Experiment;
Friday we wrestled with some of our culture’s burning issues;
After a weekend of play, Monday brought us to the sphere of labor and God’s design for work and vocation;
Tuesday we looked at the sphere of Community and God’s heart for the needy;
And Tuesday afternoon and evening, as is our weekly custom, we were all in the park eating together and enjoying a wonderful time of worship…and then the Ultimate Frisbee challenge began.
Once again, I provided the handicap for the strongest team.
I love these students! They are so bright and engaging and energizing…and they have a deep heart for God. Don’t sell them short. This is a powerful generation that is rising up behind us!

Have you ever considered having a summer class for adults? 5 day class would most likely work best for those with normal vacation time…..Suggestion: Deal with the application of the Truth Project teachings…..do a lottery for those who have lead Truth Project groups…..
Hi Del, thanks for the encouragement. It is always great to hear about what God is doing and the excitement of hearing how the Youth are growing. God bless you mate as you continue to bless others using your gifts for God.
Steve
A “powerful generation” indeed! They will need courage and wisdom. May they know that we respect and appreciate them - and gladly entrust to their care Christian truth they understand and share…powerfully! God bless ‘em!
I would also love a chance to participate in a summer program. But why should it be limited to leaders? I think it should be open to all who may have the opportunity to study with Del. The “Truth Project” was a very eye opening and have a profound “touch” on my soul. Thank You Del, we love you in Eastern Oregon.
I feel the Spirit saying the same thing about this younger generation. God is revealing them to be strong, brave and willing. What an exciting time to be alive in Christ! Let us make a special effort to come along side them like you are to mentor and pray for them. Anna
Hello Mr. Tackett,
I was delighted and encouraged to read about The Institute this morning. My precious daughter has the privilege to be under your tutelage this semester at Focus. My husband and I gladly sent her to Colorado with complete confidence in the staff of Focus and the wisdom that would be imparted. My prayer each day for her is that God would give her keen insights for the days ahead and direction for her life. May her heart be totally devoted to you dear Lord.
That is Awesome to hear of the works of our young people. Yes, I agree, I see the Holy Spirit touching many young people for His Kingdom. I live in Kenosha, WI and the Holy Spirit is working here and I see a strong fire for revival! Thanks Del for your faithfulness and being a good sevant. God Bless you and your work for the Kingdom. Debbie
Hi Del,
It’s so good to hear about how your young students are being strong in the Word of God.
It gives me hope for my grandson’s future ,, that there will be Christians to guide and direct him.
God Bless each and every one of them,, And you too. What a great teacher you are of God’s Word!!
Mr. Tackett,
You can look into each of your students faces and see peace and joy of life. they enjoy being there. It is obvious they are not hiding anything as they are living their lives serving Jesus. Thank you for having an impact on their lives as you have had on mine through The Truth Project! I have participated in many many Bible studies over my 44 years of life and never have I enjoyed and looked forward to one like I looked forward to your leadership. Thank You!
God’s continued Blessings on your ministry!
Brad~
Dr. Tackett -
At one time I was concerned about my son’s committment to faith and how we have attempted to raise him up in it. He is now in his second year of college and has proven he “gets it” and is living by the word and his belief in Christ outwardly. He is currently in a Mass Media class where the instructor is teaching on Maslow’s theory. Fortunately, and thankfully to you, he has watched the Truth Project videos with us and is armed to debate. Just last week, he debated with the instructor in the middle of class and was pulled aside after class - of course he feared he would be reprimanded. He received just the opposite, the instructor encouraged him to continue bringing his views into the classroom! This leads me to believe the university is requiring him to teach these theory’s but he does not believe in them and my son is the avenue to bringing the Truth into the classroom. I pray for him to continue to spread the goodness of God that you have helped in arming him to do. Thank you from the bottom of my heart that have helped him to bring the light to others and strengthen this generation!
