TrueU Filming—Saturday

Does God really exist?

If there is a God, why doesn’t He show Himself?

Hasn’t science proven that everything can be explained by natural processes? Doesn’t this make God…unnecessary? Doesn’t this prove that God and the Bible are just fairy tales written by man?

Good questions.

Are there credible answers? Or, are we left with simply running to a corner and mumbling something about “faith” and that “faith” doesn’t need evidence?

The first TrueU set is dedicated to showing that Romans 1 is true—that even the invisible attributes of God are plain to man because God has “made” it plain to them through His creation.

See, God has not asked us to believe in unbelievable things. He is believable. Abraham believed God. He couldn’t see the reality of what God was promising, but He believed that God was real and that He could be trusted.

No one actually “saw” the resurrection, but the disciples “saw” the evidence of the resurrection: the empty tomb, the grave clothes, even the risen Lord Himself, and they believed. We weren’t there on that morning, but we, too, believe. Yes, the Spirit of Truth is critical in guiding us into this truth and “faith”, but God hasn’t left us without evidence in the process of “believing”. He has given to us His Word and it is filled with evidence that points to the reality of what we haven’t seen.

The same is true in His creation. It is filled with evidence—evidence that points to the reality of who God is and that His truth claims and promises can be trusted with our very life and soul.

This is Christian faith.

It is not a blind faith, nor is it a fairy-tale faith. It is the “substance” of things hoped for, the “evidence” of things not seen (Hebrews 11:1).

So, the first TrueU set invites us to look into the telescope and peer into the microscope to examine this plain evidence. Saturday’s filming was an exciting array of detective work, including pondering the reality behind the Big-Bang theory and the fine-tuning of the universe around us—those multiple dials and specifications that could not vary even a fraction without making the cosmos and life impossible.

A naturalistic worldview cannot answer these questions because exquisite order cannot arise from non-directed, random processes. A pantheistic worldview cannot answer these questions because a pantheistic god cannot exist before matter.

We looked at Richard Dawkins and his attack in “The God Delusion”. We examined Steven Hawking’s theory and the impact of Darwinism on asserting that “the God hypothesis” was unnecessary. We examined all of the leading cosmological theories…and found them wanting.

We finished the day with a clear sense that there is an abundance of scientific evidence for the presence of a creative, ordering force—a true First Cause.

What could that be?

Hmmm? I wonder.

Learning that the youth are being given the opportunity, in a Truth Project type forum, to experience the truth, is wonderful.
When I was in high school I knew it all; but don’t all 15-20 year-olds know everything?
While studying Geology at the University of Washington, I was haunted by the circular reasoning of the professor. The fossils tell us how old the rocks are and the rocks are dated by the fossils that are found in situ. It was while studying Geology that I became a Christian. Too much evidence supporting creation and a cataclysmic flood left me kneeling at the cross of Jesus. The rocks truly did cry-out!
Being a small group facilitator of The Truth Project has given me the opportunity to share the life changing curriculum of Focus on the Family Institute. If TrueU is as remarkable as The Truth Project, then I am certain that the upcoming generation of youth will have a chance to slough-off the blinders of evolution and the dark worldview that bombard them, and see the light of truth.
I believe in prayer and will be praying for the TrueU project.

Sounds like you are harkening back to St. Thomas Aquinas and his five proofs for the existence of God. This one sounds like the “uncaused causer” proof, which simply stated suggests that there cannot be a series of uncaused causers or movers going back into the history of the universe (the domino effect). At some point, there had to be a prime causer or mover to set the universe in motion, whom St. Thomas called God. I spent 4 years at a Jesuit university, and the Summa Theologica was mandatory reading for first year students. After studying St. Thomas’ proofs, I do not believe that science and the existence of God are irreconcilable. I do not have to read or understand the Bible literally to know that there is a God, whom I will never have the capacity to understand. Science (and the “big bang” theory) do not address whether there is a God — rather they simply reflect more knowledge which humankind has gained as technology has allowed us to see farther and farther into the past. We need not ignore science or try to explain it away to know that we have not yet reached an understanding of the first causer or prime mover, whom we chose to call God.

Our prayers are with you and the entire film crew and staff and most importantly to those students who will receive eternal life through coming to know Jesus Christ our Lord and Savior, as a result of your efforts of rightly dividing truth, and showing the only way to eternal life through our blessed Lord and Savior.

Oh Father God in Heaven may it be so.

Grace mercy and the peace of Jesus Christ be with you all. Amen

in his grip with a passion for his love.

    Pete

Yes, this will definitely be an asset to students my age. I’ve tried running the truth project with people from my school a couple of times - each time, people initially seem excited, and then as the lessons begin, their eyes start to gloss over.

This is what we need. Thanks so much for providing it - thank God for having the answers for us, and leading us in His will!

Praise God for this ministry! This series opened my eyes to the concept of worldview. We (group of 4 who attended training) started about 60 people through the series, only a dozen finished. Feedback we got from some who dropped was the material was difficult for them to absorb, too “heady”. I’ll be interested in seeing if this High School version is easier to digest for those who couldn’t stick w/the original series. My elementary age kids love The Truth Chronicles. We’ve had great discussions listening to it while in the car. God bless your work!
