Wrestling with Perfection

I am impressed with your comments and thoughts!
This is not a simple issue. However, I believe it will lead us into some wonderful and extremely important truth claims from both general revelation (creation) and special revelation (Scripture) that we must deal with.
I intend to get through all of your comments and deal with the various points–some of which tend to one side of the issue and some which tend strongly to the other side. This will be good for me as well, since I have already confessed to you a tendency toward “perfectionism”. You’ve been honest with me and I will be honest with you.
My problem right now, however, is that I am in the midst of a very heavy travel schedule. Because of that, I apologize for my recent absence and for the fact that it will be several days before I can properly respond.
See you then…and keep thinking!

Hello Dr. Del Tackett,
You have literally helped change my life through the power of THE TRUTH PROJECT. I will forever remember and appreciate the work you have done to bring Christ into my life more than I ever thought possible. In my list of earthly people to whom I am most grateful, you are at the top of that list. It almost seems absurd to ask you for anything else in my life, but I must…You and Dr. Dobson have the ability to bring Christ into so many more lives in this next Presidential election but I have heard nothing from Focus on the Family regarding their support for Mike Huckabee in his bid to win the Republican nomination. Sir, there is only one candidate who consistently fits in with a true Christian conservative viewpoint. Mike Huckabee is the voice of Christians in this election. No one else has remotely held true to the sanctity of life and marriage as Mike Huckabee has throughout his entire life. The longer Dr. Dobson takes to announce his endorsement, the more true Christians will doubt Dr. Dobson’s sincerity. Shouldn’t this be a glorious moment in American history to bring God back into this country? If Dr. Dobson chooses to back any other candidate other than Huckabee, he will be subscribing to a hollow good ‘ole boy club rather than selecting the candidate which can bring God back to the USA and possibly the world. You can help make that happen. I encourage you to speak with Dr. Dobson, review Mike Huckabee’s record and views, and realize what so many American Christians already know…the only Christian choice for President is Mike Huckabee. His recent surge to the top in the polls shows that he can win this race. You could help even more by Focus’s endorsement of the TRUE candidate, Mike Huckabee.
Thank you for your time and may God bless you for all the amazing things you’ve already done to bring God into so many lives. I look forward to you and Dr. Dobson continuing that role in 2008 as you stand by Mike Huckabee’s side.
Sincerely,
Matt Tappa
Hello, I have no other means of contacting you besides here. I have thought of this question that I cannot find an answer too and perhaps you could help me out.
God is perfect. His nature is perfect and can never do evil. I am assuming He only knows of evil. He has created the angels with free will and mankind. Indeed, He gave them a choice to follow Him. Love is not forced.
Bare with me a moment as I go on to an example of nature. If you put a pile of greens and a pile of meat in front of a wolf, what do you think that wolf is going to choose? The meat, of course, because it is the wolf’s nature to CHOOSE that meat.
Now, God created mankind in His image, thus, His nature. Wouldn’t mankind’s nature be to CHOOSE God? Also, I am also concerned with the nature of angels, because I would think it’s in their nature to choose God. How in the world could that spirit of rebellion come within Lucifer? Where did that come from?
Also, even if Lucifer is the creator of all evil, I just don’t get why God didn’t stop him before he created mankind and let them choose. Because if there could have been rebellion in angels, then there could have been rebellion in a human. Of course, I cannot see God’s bigger plan so I am sure I am very ignorant of some things.
Thanks,
Lorraine
P.S. I am going through the Truth Project now. It has given me tons of food for thought. Thanks!
To Matt Tappa: Matt, unless I am mistaken, it would violate the tax free status of Focus on the Family to endorse a political candidate. While there may be many reasons to support a candidate such as Mr. Huckabee, churches and parachurch organizations walk a tight line. There have been times when just explaining one side of an issue has led to accusations of endorsement of a candidate who espoused that side of the issue.
I believe that Dr. Dobson and Dr. Tackett have chosen the better path, to seek to change our society one life at a time, and leave the political machinations to those who are called to that task.
