To the Great People of Hawaii

We just finished our Truth Project training conference in Hawaii. As amazing as the beauty of this state is, it does not compare to the warmth and friendliness of its people. From one person to another, we were greeted with a sincerity of Christian love and never have we felt such appreciation as we felt here.
Hawaii, we were told, is the most isolated place on the earth, geographically. It is farther away from anything than anywhere. I suppose that is true. Many come to Hawaii to frolic and play. But evidently, not many come to train and minister.
And they showed their appreciation in ways that were moving.
As we have seen in other conferences, we also had many who came a long way to attend. In this case, there were 22 other states represented…even as far away as Maryland and North Carolina. It didn’t dawn on me until Saturday morning, but when we closed our first night at 9pm on Friday evening, it was 3am for our East coast folks. Thank you for staying awake!
To all of our new Hawaii friends, brothers and sister in Christ: mahalo nui loa, aloha a hui hou. Thank you very much…until we meet again.
May the Lord richly bless you and may He do an amazing work among the people of Hawaii. May the seeds sown here spread to many.
Soli Deo Gloria.

Dr. Tackett,
This is off topic, but I just returned home from the Focus Over Fifty conference and time in the mountains with my wife. Both were excellent! I just wanted to tell you how much we enjoyed your presentation. You did a great job, as always.
While not important, you may remember me, I spoke briefly with you before your presentation (we spoke about if you had ever been able to find the women you called ‘the Foo’, your recovery and that I had attended the Minneapolis Truth Project Training).
But what I really wanted to convey to you is that I have come home and am now pressing hard into my three children to consider applying to the Institute. Between your work, the presentation by Dr. Bottomly and having lunch with several young people who recently completed the program (they were there helping man the displays) I am now 100% convinced that the experience would be invaluable for each of them.
God Bless, and keep up the fantastic work.

As an attendee at the Truth Project training this weekend in Honolulu, I just want to say that it was our pleasure to have you visit our islands. The presentation was of the highest quality in every regard, but it’s best characteristic was (surprise) that it was rooted firmly in the truth. Beyond that, the whole Truth Project team was gracious and extremely accomodating. They came with a true attitude of service (pun intended, but still sincere), and they conducted themselves very professionally. Thank you for representing Christ so well. We pray you were blessed by your visit here. We were certainly blessed by you.
May the truth of Christ continue to grow in these islands because of your efforts, by God’s gracious goodness.
This is on response to John in Ames, Iowa.
Yes John encourage your children to go. It is a lifechanging experience. One I would do over and over again. Ha!
Dr. Tackett I have a new last name in case you wondered.
Rebecca, thanks for the encouragement. I just spoke with my daughter Morgan again this morning and she is gathering the application forms today for next fall. I couldn’t ask for a better birthday present. I turned 50 today. Don’t tell anyone I snuck into the Focus over Fifty conference two weeks early when I was only 49. LOL
I hope you will forgive the tangential nature of this comment (it’s more a comment for the blog in general than this particular entry), but Jon Meacham, the editor of Newsweek, had an interesting article in the Op-Ed section fo the New York Times today (where James Dobson was published just three days ago) that might be a good article for analysis here. It is quite challenging. It’s called “A Nation of Christians is not a Christian Nation,” and you can see it on their website.
I just watched your video about Philosophy and Ethics and I just have to say that it was completely irrelevant to Christianity. I was offended by your blatant lack of logic and the way that you make assumptions about God. There is nothing in the Bible that says God is on the outside of the box. There is nothing that says that Christians should be completely oblivious to scientific findings. I am intelligent enough to understand physics AND believe in Jesus. Give me some credit… And take the blinders off.
